EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a lightweight rigid, plastic and foam material produced from solid drops of polystyrene. Expanded Polystyrene products offer excellent thermal insulation properties while at the same time they are very light in weight as they consist of foam with trapped air.
It is a product that provides smart solutions. It is durable and effective. Equally important. It is that EPS is a sustainable product, recyclable and environmentally friendly. Important Properties of EPS
- Light weight – 98% consists of entrapped air and is therefore very light, which reduces the structural load on structures making it easier to use and install.
- Durability and Structural Stability – The material is characterized by structural stability since it remains unchanged over time. It does not age and its lifespan exceeds 100 years without altering its technical characteristics
- Moisture resistance – EPS does not absorb moisture and its mechanical and insulating properties are not reduced due to the presence of water or moisture. EPS also has the ability to “breathe”, preventing the creation and condensation of water vapor.
- Reaction to fire – EPS unlike most organic building materials is self-extinguishing. The presence of a retardant results in better behavior in case of fire.
- Recycling – EPS is fully recyclable and environmentally friendly.
- Economical – EPS has an excellent unit price performance ratio.
